I currently serve as the sole photographer, videographer, and graphic designer at Peru State College. In this role, I’m responsible for creating a wide range of visual content that supports the college’s marketing efforts—from capturing campus events and producing promotional videos to designing everything from billboards and social media graphics to printed materials. My work helps shape the college’s brand and tells the story of our students, faculty, and community in an engaging and authentic way.
In addition to my work at the college, I also run a photography and videography business that I started in 2020. Specializing in weddings, portraits, and events, I’ve had the opportunity to capture meaningful moments for clients across a variety of settings. What began as a creative side hustle has grown steadily each year, both in bookings and in the range of services I offer. I balance this work alongside my role in marketing, allowing me to merge visual storytelling with strategy and connect with people in both personal and professional ways.
If I could wear a shirt that said “Ask me about my video project,” it would be for this one.
Early in 2025, I came up with the concept for a cinematic video that would showcase the legacy and spirit of Peru State College through a historical lens. When the Nebraska State College System announced its annual State College Awareness Week, I saw my opportunity as one of the theme days was focused on history. I had two weeks to bring this project to life.
I immediately got to work storyboarding the narrative, recruiting students, reaching out to alumni, and sourcing lights, props, and equipment using both my personal gear and whatever I could find on campus. I coordinated shoot schedules around student classes and alumni work hours, and directed and filmed every scene myself.
For the voiceover, I wrote the script and asked Rick Avard, our Facilities Director, to lend his voice. We recorded it using the college’s in-house audio gear, and I completed the editing and post-production just in time for launch.
The final video was released during Awareness Week and quickly became one of Peru State’s most popular videos on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
As the sole videographer for the college, this project pushed me creatively and logistically. From concept to execution, it was a one-person production—but I’m so thankful for the students, staff, and alumni who helped behind the scenes, held lights, and trusted my vision. This project is one of my proudest accomplishments.
