Miller Media

Miller Media is a company that was rebranding and shifting from taking photos of weddings and events to focusing more on racing, cars, and BMX photography. To support this rebranding, he wanted a logo that represented his new passion. The request was for a logo with a racing feel, primarily type-based. I first chose the typeface I wanted to use to get a sense of the look he was aiming for. I found a bold font similar to those used in racing. It was important to me that it was italic to convey movement. I also modified the M's and added a modern serif to enhance the racing vibe. Creating the imagery was a challenge. I initially thought of using the exposure wheel as a tire, but that didn't work out, so I moved on. Next, I considered using the exposure ring as a car’s headlight, but that idea didn't come across as well as I hoped, so I went back to the drawing board. I then thought about other circular elements on a car or a camera, and that’s when I settled on combining a speedometer with a camera lens. This approach worked well, and I took a modern approach to merge the two images. The client loved the idea and was very happy with the final result.
